I was getting dressed for a typical day of work and the Holy Spirit proposed this question to me. “Did you really get dressed this morning?” At that moment, I realized how I am a creature of habit. I get up at the same time every morning and go through my running list of things to do before I leave the house. Although I may be dressed outwardly; without my spiritual “clothes” I feel vulnerable on every side, I become an easy victim, and I feel unsafe.
“Put on the full armour of God, so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes.” Ephesians 6:11 (NIV)
God is calling us to get “dressed” beyond the physical appearance of what we see. We have to stay on guard from the inside out. We cannot go mindlessly about our day without checking in with the Holy Spirit. Our responsibility as believers calls us to be on alert always; not only for what God is doing in our lives, but also how he uses us to be a blessing in others lives.

Thank you for this devotional! We also have to make sure we are spiritually dressed so that we can react properly under certain situations that happen unexpectedly or situations that catches us off guard. I had a situation happen at work that could have gone south very quickly but thank God for the Holy Spirit. Although I was upset internally, it was nothing but Gid that kept me from showing it externally. I was fighting with myself to react in a negative manner and God was telling me to give it to Him and that’s just what I did. Put on the whole armour. It did not say half or some this day or some that day. If we only put on half we will get caught off guard. Thank you Lord for your protection!
