“Nothing compares to the knowledge of Christ.”
This past December I had the privilege of graduating with my masters in Education. When I was sitting in the chair, I was overwhelmed with so many emotions. I reflected on my initial decision to go back to school to pursue my masters, I thought of the many supporters who were more than willing to offer their time, I thought of the obstacles I faced along the way, and the early mornings and late nights. Although I was proud of the academic milestone that I accomplished, I realized that no amount of knowledge I learned or will ever learn can override the wisdom and magnitude of Christ. Throughout the ups and downs of school over the last year and half, it was God’s voice that confirmed my decision to go to school, it was the prompting of the Holy Spirit that provided the right supporters along the way, and his supernatural strength that allowed me to endure the late nights and early mornings.
“I will destroy human wisdom and discard their most brilliant ideas.” 1 Corinthians 1:19 (NLT)
Paul reminds us that no amount of human wisdom can ever trump the knowledge of Christ. I have a natural tendency to believe that I can find, fix, or solve anything, but as I grow in my relationship with Christ,he reminds me that his way is definitely not my way nor his thoughts my thoughts. This scripture is reminder to me that I cannot ever learn enough to outsmart God; for he is the creator of everything. There is nothing wrong with having a thirst and passion for knowledge, but Paul reminds us in 1 Corinthians 1:26 “This “foolish” plan of God is far wiser than the wisest of human plans..” Throughout the bible God uses different people at different times to show that it does not matter where you come from, how smart you are, or what your background is; he will lift you up and put your feet on solid ground. I have learned that YES, God has given me a desire to learn and study, but my ultimate and true wisdom is the whispers from the Holy Spirit in the midst of a research paper, or how he interrupts my words in the middle of a presentation, or how he sends his perfect peace in the midst of unforeseen path. We are privileged enough to experience and create many memories in our lifetime, but it is our relationship with God that connects the dots with true and lasting meaning.
